/Partnership and collaboration are what make associations prosper! The Board of Directors are often the bridge to creating meaningful partnerships. Nina Peek, our Member at Large, serves as the liaison between APA NY Upstate Chapter and the New York Planning Federation. This month, we're spotlighting her!
Nina Peek, AICP, Senior Principal Planner for SLR Consulting and the Deputy Chairperson for the Town of Amenia NY Planning Board
Region you represent: Member at Large
APA NYU Involvement: I've been in the role for 2 years and joined to be a liaison between the New York Planning Federation Board and APA Upstate. Whereas the NYPF supports municipal board members throughout NYS, the APA supports practicing professional planners and planning students. Bridging these two great organizations has been a privilege.
Favorite Thing About Serving APA NYU: My favorite thing about serving on this board is meeting and working with the other board members, learning about state-of-the-art practices and empowering planners to create vibrant, equitable and sustainable communities.
Fun Fact: From concrete maze to country paradise (population: 4,000 and one very lonely traffic light); this City girl now grows her own dinner instead of ordering it, and my homemade 'Peekles' have become local legend. Turns out swapping subway delays for garden dirt under my fingernails was the best trade I ever made.
We are so appreciative of the work Nina does to help us build vibrant relationships with like-minded organizations. Three cheers for Nina!
