Job Opening: Planner/Stormwater Management Technician for Town of Halfmoon
/The Town of Halfmoon is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Planner/Stormwater Management Technician in the Town’s Department of Building, Planning and Development.
The Town of Halfmoon, with a population of 26,000+ and located in Southern Saratoga County, has been among the fastest growing communities in the Capital District for over two decades. The candidate will have an opportunity to gain hands-on experience (office and field work) in all aspects of planning, zoning, land development, environmental protection, stormwater management, transportation, comprehensive planning, and grant writing.
The position is a semi-technical full-time position (40 hrs/week), 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday, plus required attendance at meetings of the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals. Duties are performed under the direct supervision of the Coordinator of Building, Planning and Development. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, with relevant experience and education, comfortable with public speaking, and possess excellent writing and computer skills.

This is a specialized professional planning position with primary work assignments focused on the areas of historic preservation, neighborhood planning and urban design. In addition to these responsibilities, the incumbent performs general professional planning duties in the office and in the field. General direction and project assignments are received from the Director of Planning, Housing and Community Development. The details of the work are independently planned and carried to completion. Work is performed independently with other planners both as support and lead staff. Supervision may be exercised over c
