Job Opportunity: Community Development Specialist in Livingston County

This is an entry level professional position responsible for assisting in a variety of planning and management functions within the applicable Livingston County Department (Economic Development or Planning).  A considerable amount of autonomy and independent judgment is exercised when performing the duties assigned.  Assignments may increase in complexity and responsibility as the incumbent increases in professional competence. 

Work is performed in the office and in the field.  Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class.  The work is performed under the general supervision of the assigned supervisor.  A Community Development Specialist does related work as assigned.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

  • Assists with special projects related to infrastructure/utilities, housing, transportation, environmental issues, economic development, and shared municipal services;

  • Assists in developing, administering, and assessing policies related to budget, program, and agency procedures and performs studies and analysis for special projects and research assignments;

  • Acts as the liaison between the County and public interest groups and other organizations involved in community development; 

  • Participates in meetings with civic and business leaders, town and village boards, and other interested organizations to determine regional and community development needs;

  • Assists with preparing grant applications and grant implementation;

  • Collects and summarizes data relative to capital improvement projects, including but not limited to project status, schedules, reviewing project milestones and deliverables, and budget/cost benefit analysis;

  • Answers requests for information from the public and other County departments; and

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
