This "Learn at Lunch" examines controversial uses such as tattoo parlors, new uses such as mixed use, and unanticipated uses. Learn how to address these legally, sustain community, and accommodate appropriately the ever-evolving needs of residents, businesses, and visitors.
Speaker Bio: Amy Lavine is a staff attorney at the Government Law Center of Albany Law School. She was a cum laude graduate of Albany Law, and during her time at the law school, she was a member of the Albany Law School Journal of Science and Technology. She has authored and coauthored several articles on land use, local government, and eminent domain.

The Orange County, New York, Department of Planning is seeking to fill one of two Deputy Commissioner positions. The new Deputy will either handle oversight of the Transportation and Transit Units or the Land Use and Environmental Units. Applicants for either position should have supervisory experience including budgeting and fiscal management as well as human resource management. Work is performed under the supervision of the Commissioner of Planning/MPO Director with latitude allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out planning activities. Supervision is exercised over subordinate professional, technical and clerical personnel. Related work is performed as required.
