Job Opening: Assistant Town Planner, Tolland, CT

Summary:  The Town of Tolland is seeking a full-time Assistant Planner that also serves as the Zoning Enforcement Officer, Wetlands Agent, and administers the Town’s GIS.  The Assistant Planner administers the permitting process, assists with reviews of land use applications, and assists various boards and commissions among other duties.  The Planning and Zoning Commission is updating the Plan of Conservation and Development, providing an opportunity for the Assistant Planner to be involved in the long-range planning process. The Town supports professional development of staff, providing opportunities to attend trainings and workshops.  Town Hall staff have been on a Monday through Thursday work schedule for several years, subject to annual re-approval.

 Qualifications:  Graduate of a four year college with a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Environmental Science or related field and three to five (3-5) years of related work experience in planning, zoning enforcement or wetlands enforcement or a college graduate with a Master degree in Planning, Environmental Science or related field and one to three (1-3) years of related work experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.  GIS skills desirable. 


Salary: Starting range is $51,500 to $55,000 DOQ.
