Planner III - Long Range Planning 

Salary range is $58,458.00-$94,258.00 annually 

Salary is negotiable depending on qualifications

The Calvert County Department of Planning & Zoning is seeking a talented, energetic and motivated professional to join its Long Range Planning section. The Planner III will be instrumental in the effort to update the county’s seven Town Center master plans, including public outreach and stakeholder engagement. 

Town Centers are the county’s primary designated growth areas. They include Dunkirk, Owings, Huntingtown, Prince Frederick – the county seat – St. Leonard, Lusby, and Solomons – a waterfront village located near the confluence of the Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay. 

The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners recently adopted the updated Calvert County Comprehensive Plan. This plan for 2040 sets the goal to develop Town Centers as attractive, convenient and interesting places to live, work and shop. 

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing long range plans, managing community-based planning processes and be skilled in public engagement techniques. 


Master’s degree plus two years of experience; or bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience; or high school diploma plus eight years of experience. 


Professional planning or related experience which must include considerable experience managing daily operations, projects, customer service and policy development and implementation.
