G/FLRPC is seeking a Planner to support the work of the Regional Planning Council including the Data, Technology & Resource Center and other general planning programs and projects. Areas of responsibilities will include geographic information systems and remote sensing, IT support, socio-economic and demographic data research, analysis, and dissemination, Census related projects, as well as supporting work in the Economic Development and Regional, Local & Water Resources Planning, and Clean Energy Communities program components. A strong component will be geographic information systems, mapping, and working with socio-economic and demographic data, databases, software and data analysis. General planning support is required. Familiarity with software such as GIS, Microsoft Office Suite, general data visualization, and Adobe creative suite is preferred. Master’s degree in a related field is preferred. Interpersonal, organizational, computer, and team skills required.

Brief Description of Agency: (Mission Statement) G/FLRPC will identify, define, and inform its member counties of issues and opportunities critical to the physical, economic, and social health of the region. G/FLRPC will provide forums for discussion, debate, and consensus building, and develop and implement a focused action plan with clearly defined outcomes, which include programs, personnel, and funding.
The Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council three main program areas including Economic Development, Regional, Local & Water Resources Planning, and the Data, Technology & Resource Center and is the regional coordinator for the Clean Energy Communities program. Programs and projects associated with the Economic Development area include the regional federal Economic Development District along with regional economic development coordination, revolving loan funds, strategic planning, development planning, and impact analysis. Programs and projects associated with the Regional, Local & Water Resources Planning area include water resources planning (such as watershed, groundwater, source water, floodplain, green infrastructure, and stormwater); land use planning; municipal and strategic planning; hazard mitigation planning; resiliency; and training/workshops/conference development and coordination. Programs and projects associated with the Data, Technology & Resource Center area include demographic and socio-economic data development and analysis; dissemination of data through the New York State Data Center and US Census Bureau Affiliate Programs; working on the Local Update of Census Addresses program to update the Census Master Address File; remote sensing; and a full service geographic information system.
