Permitting Manager, Albany and Buffalo

The Permitting Manager will prepare and expedite documentation that is required for permits, right-of-ways, easements, and land use for building large scale infrastructure projects. This individual will own and expedite the permit application process to meet the requirements of local governments, jurisdictions, and governing agencies. The Permitting Manager will submit permits for approvals within city jurisdictions, municipalities, and counties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage all aspects of the permit compliance process to secure approvals for installations, operations, and maintenance of large scale infrastructure projects in municipalities.

Serve as an expert on permitting matters related to local municipal codes and permitting processes. Proactively communicate status of existing and pending permits.

Coordinate with project managers to ensure that permit packages meet local and statewide municipality requirements.

Obtain all necessary permitting/zoning approvals from national, statewide, and local agencies.

Educate team members on government and municipality requirements to ensure compliance in securing approvals at permit and construction stages of the project. Meet project timelines.

Extensive travel may be required within the designated permitting area.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

Five plus years of experience expediting land use, right-of-way, easement, or utility permits.

Five plus years of experience with permitting in the utilities or right-of-way related areas.

Must have advanced knowledge of predetermined permitting location and current working relationships with municipal permitting officials. A strong knowledge base is also required in the following areas:

Architecture industry

Permit applications/documents

Working with government agencies, jurisdictions, and right-of-way

Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word

Have attended and participated in municipal hearings.

Able to read and comprehend site plans and A&E designs.

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Established negotiation skills.

Must be resourceful, flexible, and maintain the ability to react and respond quickly with a focus on accuracy.

Will not relocate for this position.

Travel within 50m radius to meet JX and attend hearings on a daily basis

Experience with the permitting process as Landman, Transportation Planner, Urban Planner, City Planner or as a Government official.
