City of Utica Parks & Recreation Master Plan: Request For Proposals

The City of Utica is seeking a consultant to prepare a citywide Parks & Recreation Master Plan; the plan will ultimately provide for a trail system connecting City parks and open space areas with existing trails, Utica Harbor and the Erie Canal. In addition, special consideration should be given to the historic preservation of Utica’s Olmsted-designed parks system. This plan will identify successes and impediments in the parks system, while also identifying recommendations for park improvements, discontinuances and redevelopment. A creative public participation and community outreach will be important to the success of the planning effort; proposals must include innovative methods to elicit input from two of the largest City parks user groups: immigrants/refugees and youth.
