Accountant, Southern Tier Central Regional Planning and Development Board

Southern Tier Central Regional Planning and Development Board (STC) is seeking an experienced Fiscal Officer/Accountant. The full time position involves the performance of computerized double‑entry accounting for a wide variety of governmental accounts involving grants accounting, working with numerous programs and funding sources, and the generation of financial reports. The work is carried out in accordance with sound, accepted governmental accounting principles and GAAP. Typical work activities include:

Budget management and processing

Grants management, including financial reports

Processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable

Maintenance of financial database and use of multiple spreadsheets

Annual audit processing

Work with county, state, and federal funding sources

Preparation of financial correspondence

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting and one year of experience in accounting or

Associates degree in accounting and three years of full-time experience in accounting or

Five years of full-time experience in accounting or

An equivalent combination of training and experience.

Experience with financial accounting software and Microsoft Excel

All STC employees are required to pass a Civil Service test that will be offered at some point during their employment.
