Applications are now being accepted for the position of Geographic Information Systems Technician. The nature of this appointment is provisional pending outcome of a Civil Service Examination. Examination to be scheduled at a later date.
This work involves responsibility for performance of technical work related to geographical information systems including collecting and reviewing source data, updating and maintaining central GIS database, and assisting in the completion of various GIS projects in support of County and municipal needs and services. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Commissioner of Planning with latitude for independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor's Degree, or higher, in Urban, Regional or Municipal Planning, Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Cartography or related field; OR
(B) Completion of sixty (60) credits from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees and two (2) years of experience developing and maintaining geographical information systems.
Starting Salary: $24.8758 per hour (35 hours/week); $45,274 annually
CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION WILL BE REQUIRED
FINAL CANDIDATES MUST SUBMIT TO A FINGERPRINT CHECK AND CRIMINAL HISTORY AND BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION. COSTS RELATED TO SUCH INVESTIGATION
