DEADLINE PASSED RFP: Landscape Architecture Design Services for the Village of Union Springs and Town of Springport Waterfront Revitalization Plan

Cayuga County has received a matching grant from the New York State Department of State, with funds provided under Title 11 of the Environmental Protection Fund, to prepare a joint Village of Union Springs and Town of Springport Waterfront Revitalization Plan (Plan). This project is the first phase in the preparation of a joint Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) for the Village of Union Springs and Town of Springport located along Cayuga Lake.

Cayuga County is seeking professional services from a landscape architecture design firm to prepare detailed designs for some of the specific projects in the plan, as identified by the LWRP Advisory Committee, including:

a)    a schematic master plan for the redevelopment of Frontenac Park including the area around the Village Offices and the public boat launch that will enhance access to the park and the lake, the overall aesthetics of the area, and create better pedestrian and visual connections to Cayuga Street (NYS Route 90);

b)    a schematic plan for Frontenac Island that will provide low impact public access;

c)    identify appropriate location(s) and schematic design of recreational trails, birding, and/or viewing areas in the Waterfront Revitalization Area; and

d)    streetscape enhancements for the Historic Business District on NYS Route 90.

The Consultant will prepare requested plans, graphics, cost estimates, etc. in a draft format to be presented to the Advisory Committee and the public for input. These designs should not be limited to just graphics and renderings, but should include realistic cost estimates for construction that the community can use in subsequent grant applications. The Consultant will be required to visit the community in person in order to gain intimate knowledge of the sites and areas listed above.
