The Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council (G/FLRPC) is looking for a socio-economic and demographic data and planning intern that is currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate school. Primary experience will be gained working with our Senior Planner for our Data, Technology and Resource Center. This is an opportunity to work on projects/tasks that impact the Genesee-Finger Lakes Region. You will be offered the opportunity to work on projects, with the main focus on address data collection and database development and manipulation. Other tasks may be assigned outside of the Data, Technology and Resource Center area which could include organizational and programmatic support, environmental and land use planning, demographic research, statistical analysis and the use of computer software such as spreadsheets and databases.
Basic General Duties Required of Student Interns: The data tasks support G/FLRPC, which has three main program areas: Economic Development, Regional, Local & Water Resources Planning, and Data, Technology & Resource Center. Student interns work with professional staff in support of one or more of these areas, programs and associated projects. Interns will also gain hands-on experience in working with databases, managing records and accuracy of data entry.
Other Basic Student Intern Requirements: Good organizational, interpersonal, oral, written, communication and computer skills are needed. The ideal candidate will possess strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, along with an understanding of databases, strong attention to detail, experience conducting research, and is organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
