The Chautauqua County Department of Planning and Economic Development (CCPED) is looking for a creative and energetic planner to become part of their team as a Junior Planner. CCPED is an award winning planning and economic development department located in Western New York. Candidates who will be successful in the position must enjoy working in a team environment and on a diverse range of projects. The diversity of communities in Chautauqua County calls for broad planning knowledge and practice, in the last few years alone the planning topics covered by the office included, but was not limited to: agricultural and rural planning; food systems planning; solar and wind energy facilities planning; design guidelines covering villages, towns, and the county; community revitalization and economic development; mountain bicycling-, bicycling-, pedestrian-, snowmobile-, and equestrian trails; complete streets; Brownfield Opportunity Areas; Local Waterfront Revitalization Programs; and everything in between. The Junior Planner assists with the development of regional planning and economic development programs and initiatives, assists county departments and local municipalities in their planning endeavors, and may be called upon to write and/or administer grants. While being an integral part of the team, the successful candidate must be self-directed and have excellent project and time management skills.
This position is a competitive civil service position and will either be filled on a provisional basis pending the outcome of a future dated Civil Service examination for this title.
