This year promises to be an exciting time (September 13-15, 2006) for the annual APA New York Upstate Chapter Conference. Jim Kent and myself have been working diligently on the "Tomorrow's Technology Today" theme for our hometown of Auburn New York. In addition to APA, the New York Upstate Chapter ASLA and the NYS Geographic Information Association (NYSGISA) are primary co-host. Also playing contributing roles are: Cornell University, The New York State Urban Council, and the Institute for the Application of Geospatial Technology (IAGT). We anticipate offering AICP, ASLA and PE continuing education credits for the various sessions planned.
Bob Brower, the CEO of IAGT, will offer the opening plenary session highlighting the "cutting edge" technology that he has developed by forming an alliance with NASA. The operating projects that IAGT have been involved with around the world are some of the most exciting visual programs available.
William Fulton, one the major national planning figures will be the "Key Note Speaker". President of Solimar Research Group, Inc. he is also an extensive writer, speaker and authority on the issues of Urban Sprawl, Economic Development and Smart Growth initiatives. Now based in Ventura, CA, Bill also is a city council member and is pleased to be coming back to his birthplace of Auburn to share his experiences with all of the conference attendees.
Last year we had over 250 conference
registrants and this year we hope to offer another exciting program that will
energize many design professionals.
